Formerly we called software "cross-platform" if it worked on Windows, Mac and Linux. Then it was thought that all Web services are cross-platform as they work in browser. But today the word "cross-platform" has a new meaning. Virtually all popular applications and Web services have become platforms themselves: Facebook, GMail, iPhone, Sharepoint ... For the modern business application Facebook or Outlook app is as important as Windows client. The task collaboration service Producteev want to use this shift. In addition to "traditional" web interface, it allows you to work with tasks in email, instant messengers, mobile devices and social networks (i.e. in those places where you mostly spend time).

True, mostly cross-platform concerns the process of task creation and reminders. Producteev allows to create task simply by forwarding email, sending a message from Facebook or Twitter, or messenger (Gtalk, AIM, Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo, and ICQ). Through the same channels you can receive task reminders and notifications. You can view tasks and work with them only in the web interface, GMail / iGoogle widgets and on iPhone. Soon the Outlook plugin, Mac and Android-clients will be released.

Regarding to service functionality - it's also excellent. You can create tasks for yourself and for co-workers, assign tags, permissions, set reminders, collaborate on tasks using comments with file attachments. You can create multiple workspaces (projects), and view tasks by project or by owner. The service includes Google-like calendar that can sync with Google Calendar. Producteev is free for up to 3 users.
