June 09, 2023
Data.com and LeadSpace are both providers of business and contact data, but they have key differences in terms of their data sources, features, and capabilities.
Data.com, formerly known as Jigsaw and now a part of Salesforce, offers a large database of business contact information. It relies on crowd-sourcing, where users contribute and verify data, to build its database. Data.com provides contact details, including phone numbers and email addresses, along with company information. It integrates seamlessly with Salesforce CRM, allowing users to access and update data directly within their CRM system. Data.com offers subscription-based pricing options.
LeadSpace, on the other hand, is a data enrichment and customer data platform that leverages artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms to provide comprehensive insights about target accounts and contacts. It uses a combination of data sources, including publicly available information, social media, and proprietary data, to build its extensive database. LeadSpace focuses on delivering data enrichment, segmentation, and lead scoring capabilities to help businesses identify and engage with their ideal customers. It offers a range of pricing plans tailored to different business needs.

Data.com vs LeadSpace in our news:
2015. Leads analytics service LeadSpace scores $18M
Leadspace, a company specializing in generating and evaluating sales leads for marketers, has announced that it secured $18 million in funding. Leadspace seamlessly integrates with popular marketing software such as Marketo and Salesforce, combining the leads generated by marketers with publicly available data, including data from social networks. By doing so, it provides marketers with a means to assess the quality of these specific leads in comparison to other customer profiles. Higher-quality leads typically result in increased revenue. Leadspace leverages both internal databases and publicly available data sources to gather its information. For instance, Twitter serves as one of the social networking platforms that contributes to this process, albeit in a limited number of cases.
2010. Salesforce goes into amoral crowdsourcing
Nowadays the confidentiality of personal information is not so important. Especially for sales guys, like Salesforce's management. Today, Salesforce has acquired Jigsaw, which TechCrunch's Mike Arrington at first called evil and then simply amoral. Jigsaw - is a huge (21 million) online database of contacts and companies, filled by crowdsourcing: users add contact information of other people (without their knowledge) usually from business cards. When the service appeared in 2006, it paid people $1 for each added contact. Then Jigsaw sell the access to contacts database to companies using cold calling (or spammers). And there was no way to remove your contacts from the service. ***
