2023. Twitter completes sale of MoPub to AppLovin
AppLovin, the marketing software provider, has acquired Twitter's mobile ad platform, MoPub, for $1.05 billion in cash. Despite MoPub contributing approximately $188 million in annual revenue to Twitter in 2020, the social media giant has decided to focus on other areas of its business due to accelerated product development and greater potential. Twitter will now prioritize performance-based ads, SMB, and commerce as it redirects its resources. At the time of the acquisition, MoPub's software was already being utilized by 45,000 mobile apps to manage their monetization, reaching an impressive 1.5 billion addressable users globally, as per AppLovin's statement. Presently, AppLovin's Exchange provides direct access to over 150 DSPs (Demand-Side Platforms), representing numerous brands and agencies.
